Giving Cats and Kittens Their Best Chance!

Your donations save lives. There’s been a run of critical cat and kitten situations this summer and we’re reaching out to you for help once again. There’s a lot to update you on, starting with a tiny kitten named Newell. Newell is fighting for his life and we’re right there with him!

We received a call about an emaciated kitten with a horrible eye injury and infested with fleas and maggots. We rushed him to the emergency vet to learn that he was even sicker than we thought – he tested positive for panleukopenia, commonly known as distemper. That turned out to be a false alarm, which was our first piece of good news for tiny Newell. But even with his poor prognosis, he ate some formula and showed us a little spunk! Since Newell still wanted to try, we wanted to give him that chance. We decided to see how he did overnight, and the next morning Newell was still with us!

Newell made slow but steady progress, but by the next day, he gave us another scare. We thought that was it, and we were prepared to be with him at the end, when Newell rallied again! Newell is still touch and go, but every day he is showing us that he’s not giving up. As long as he’s willing to fight for his life, we are going to be right there with him.

Kittens like Newell need you to have the best chance possible for a happy life. Although Newell is far from out of the woods, we be right there with him as long as he is willing and is not suffering. Everyone who has met this little fellow has fallen in love him. Your impact grows even more when these cats and kittens bring your love with them to their new adopted family. We never could do what we do for kittens like Newell without your support.

Glitter Needs Your Help

Glitter needs your help!! This sweet little kitten was found outside with a feral colony, and she was clearly not feral! The caretaker noticed she had an injured eye and called for help. It turns out that Glitter has an ulcerated cornea that needs immediate treatment to prevent further damage or blindness.
Today Glitter is safely indoors where she is safe and warm and well fed. She is getting the treatment she needs for her injured eye, thanks to kindhearted people like you. If you can, please donate to help Glitter and cats like her to have a chance at a happy life. We sincerely appreciate your kind and generous support.

Sarah's Story

Sarah is a sweet young cat who came to us with a painful ear polyp. Our veterinarian performed surgery to remove the polyp, but it has already grown back and is infected. As always, OSC will give Sarah her best chance at a happy life.
Right now, we’re preparing to cover the treatment she needs and further surgery that will likely be required to relieve her pain. Thank you for helping Sarah, we appreciate your generosity.

Cat Stuck Under Trailer

Yesterday’s message for help from a kindhearted caretaker of a colony of feral cats in her area. “There’s a feral cat who is trapped under a trailer. I am a disabled individual and cannot make it under to help. She’s a nursing mom cat who has a very tiny newborn kitten with her trying to nurse. There is string wrapped around the mother’s leg and hooked on a pipe under a trailer. She has made the situation even worse and wrapped tighter trying to free herself.”

OSC volunteers moved fast to try to help. With some hard work and good fortune, they freed the mom cat and got the kitten to safety with no one getting hurt. Last night the mom cat came back to the feeding station and was weight bearing on all four paws! The kitten, named Bernie, is now with a foster family and is doing well! And the colony caretaker continues to work with a local TNR group to get the cats spayed/neutered and vaccinated.

We could never do what we do for the cats and kittens without you.

Sweet Eina

Eleven-year-old Eina came to us weak with a serious gastrointestinal issue and an upper respiratory infection. She was so sick she was hospitalized for a couple of weeks. Eina is getting better every day because of OSC’s generous supporters.

Little Andreas is Fighting for His Life

It’s non-stop! Yesterday's emergency call was for a tiny lethargic kitten, riddled with fleas. We took him right to the emergency vet – he’s was so anemic from the fleas that he needed two blood transfusion. One of our volunteers named him Andreas because it means brave, and that he is! As long as he’s willing to fight for his life, we are going to be right there with him. And he made it through the night! Please, if you can, help save Andreas’ life by donating to support his medical care.
There are so many that need our help. Thank you for your generous hearts and for fighting with us to save their lives.
