Many Cats and Kittens Need your Help!
Cat and kitten crisis season is coming at us full blast! Already we’ve had a series of medical emergencies -- senior cats who lost their homes, abandoned cats found injured, and orphaned kittens in need of bottle feeding. And the calls keep coming. We need your help and ask that, if you can, to please make a donation today.
We're launching a rolling campaign to help manage the urgent cat and kitten crisis we face daily. This is a series of recent rescue stories.
This little cutie pictured above, is peeking out from a pile of five kittens that OSC volunteers escued, along with their hard-working momma. You and the OSC family of supporters save many little lives!
Copper

June 30th -- Copper, (the orange boy pictured above), was rescued by a kindhearted woman who contacted OSC and now is at the Emergency Vet. Copper’s leg is broken in multiple places and is shattered at the wrist. He bites his foot hard when his leg hurts, the vet said he is in so much pain that he is literally trying to chew his foot off. Copper needs his leg amputated ASAP, and the search is on to find a surgeon to do this within the next day because it cannot wait until after the weekend.
July 2nd Update -- Everyone, we have sad news. Little Copper had his surgery earlier this morning and it proved to be too much for him. Copper was in our lives for less than 48 hours, and you helped him get the vital medical care he needed to ease his pain. It’s tragic that we lost him, we’re all heartbroken and the veterinary professionals at CDVRH felt this one hard too. The thing to remember is that together we gave Copper his best chance.
A friend and mentor once said to us, “Pray for the dead and fight like hell for the living." And that’s exactly what we’ll keep doing.
Pookie, pictured below, came to us because there was nowhere else to go...
Pookie became homeless when her elderly mom could no longer care for her. There was a plan for Pookie, but it fell through at the last minute. OSC agreed to take Pookie into foster care and gave her a quiet room so she could settle down and decompress. Pookie is eating and using her litter box, but she is still depressed, and her foster family knows this is going to take time, patience and a lot of love.
Maddie and Ella, who lost their lifelong home. They found safe haven with OSC, which was fortunate as they both needed immediate medical attention.
Maddie and Ella received the medical procedures they needed because of supporters like you. Maddie has severe erosive osteoarthritis, which was discovered on X-ray. She needed arthrocentesis to rule out infection, in addition to an abdominal ultrasound and cystocentesis to rule out a UTI. Ella had a large bleeding cyst on her shoulder that had to be removed, plus she needed a dental procedure at the same time.
Right now, we have 150 cats and kittens in OSC foster homes, which is much higher than usual, and we get calls for help every day. To do our best to help, and to do so responsibly, we’re reaching out to you to ask for your support.
